St John's Church, Stratford, London E15

St. John's church is an evangelical Anglican church, a member of the Anglican Communion, that believes in the common doctrine of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Our faith and belief is in the Authority of Scripture revealed by the power of the Holy Spirit and taught to us by his servants in the church.

We believe in the human Incarnation of Christ in the person of Jesus to whom we owe our salvation by his death on the cross and resurrection from the dead.

We believe in the Creeds (Nicean, Apostolic and Athanasius) as established by the early church as the statement of our faith, and we share in the brotherhood of saints in the Christian church of all who hold to such doctrine.

We hold and follow obedience to Christ in faith, to Evangelism and the vision for mission to go into the world to teach the Gospel of Truth through Christ Jesus, with the Baptism of water and laying on of hands in receiving the Holy Spirit of God.

The Nicene Creed

The Nicene Creed is our statement of belief. It has been widely used as an affirmation of faith from ancient times and is accepted as authoritative by the Anglican, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and all major Protestant churches.

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is,
seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son
is worshipped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.

Amen.
